We’re hiring!
We are hiring a part-time or full-time Research Specialist to support our NIH-funded research on how mindfulness practices can support well-being as people return to the community following incarceration. We’re looking for an open-minded, flexible, and empathic person who has experience working with community members with diverse backgrounds and lived experiences. Lived experiences with the criminal legal system are highly valued, as are previous academic and professional experiences relevant to incarceration and reentry. For more information and to apply, click here. The application deadline is April 14 at 11:55 pm.
Students and trainees
We are looking for undergraduate, graduate, and post-doctoral trainees to join us in the work we’re doing! We’re especially interested in welcoming individuals who have been personally impacted by the criminal legal system, or who represent marginalized groups that historically have been disproportionately affected by this system.
- Undergraduate students: We are looking to bring on undergraduate research assistants with interests in the criminal legal system, mindfulness and other well-being practices, and trauma-informed approaches. Previous research experience is not required! We welcome applicants who are studying psychology, social work, criminal legal studies, public policy, computer, data, and information sciences, and related areas.
- Graduate students: Dan is able to admit Psychology Ph.D. students through the Clinical Psychology program and through the Individualized Graduate Major.
- Post-doctoral trainees: Dan is an affiliate of the Training Program in Emotion Research, which provides funding for two post-doctoral trainees each year. Individuals with interests in community-engaged scholarship, qualitative and mixed methods research, trauma-informed mindfulness interventions, incarceration and reentry, and systems transformation are encouraged to reach out to learn more about this opportunity.
For more information on any of these training opportunities, email Dan.
Community collaborators
The foundation of all our work is close collaborative relationships with community partners in Dane County, in Wisconsin, and beyond. We are always interested in developing new partnerships with individuals and groups who are invested in research-driven solutions to bring about individual healing and systemic transformation in the criminal legal system.
